Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Information for License Accreditation (Australia only)

Candidates are required to provide AUSTSWIM with evidence of having undertaken and attained a CPR qualification. A CPR qualification is valid for a period of 12 months only. A copy of your CPR qualification must be current when submitted to AUSTSWIM as part of your additional requirements to support your request for an AUSTSWIM certificate. The CPR documentation provided must be able to verify or certify that you have undertaken the required CPR qualification.

Please note: Should the documentation you provide be in the form of an editable PDF certificate, you will be required to provide additional supporting documentation to verify its authenticity. An example of this may be an accompanying letter from your RTO provider to confirm your course details and completion date.

The following proof of CPR will only be accepted:


Provision of a Statement of Attainment from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for:

  • The standalone accredited unit of competency HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation which has been issued up to and including the 14th of October 2021. From the 15th of October 2021 this unit can no longer be offered as it has been superseded by HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • The accredited unit of competency HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • The standalone accredited unit of competency HLTAID003 Provide first aid (which encompasses CPR) which has been issued up to and including the 14th of October 2021. From the 15th of October 2021 this unit can no longer be offered as it has been superseded by HLTAID011 Provide first aid.
  • The accredited unit of competency HLTAID011 Provide first aid
  • The SISSS00111 Pool Lifeguard Skill Set (this Skill Set incorporates CPR) or any other Skill Set or qualification that encompasses CPR i.e., HLTAID003 Provide first aid or HLTAID011 Provide first aid, or any other Skill Set or qualification which includes the unit of competency HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation or HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation or HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation which has been undertaken as part of the VET accredited Bronze Medallion.


Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Information for License Accreditation (International only)

Candidates are required to provide AUSTSWIM with evidence of having undertaken and attained a CPR qualification. A CPR qualification is valid for the period of time outlined within the requirements of the county you reside in (i.e. 1 year, 2 years etc – review for your respective country). A copy of your CPR qualification must be current when submitted to AUSTSWIM as part of your additional requirements to support your request for an AUSTSWIM certificate. The CPR documentation provided must be able to verify or certify that you have undertaken the required CPR qualification.


CPR Documentation must meet the following requirements:  

  • Provision of a CPR Certificate that meets the CPR requirements as outlined within the country where you reside. This should be supported by evidence that the CPR training undertaken encompasses both theoretical and practical training. It is noted that the CPR requirements within the country you reside may be different to those outlined within the Australian Resuscitation Guidelines.



Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Information for License Renewal (Australia only)

AUSTSWIM Teachers™ should note that to renew your AUSTSWIM license evidence of a valid CPR qualification is required to be provided to AUSTSWIM. The CPR documentation provided must be able to verify or certify that you have undertaken the required CPR qualification.

AUSTSWIM Teachers™ are required to maintain their CPR qualification every 12 months in order for their AUSTSWIM Teacher Licence™ to remain valid. A copy is required to be submitted as part of the license renewal process.

  • Provision of a Statement of Attainment for the accredited unit of competency HLTAID011 Provide first aid
  • Provision of a Statement of Attainment for the SISSS00111 Pool Lifeguard Skill Set (this Skill Set incorporates CPR) or any other Skill Set or qualification that encompasses CPR i.e., HLTAID003 Provide first aid or HLTAID011 Provide first aid, or any other Skill Set or qualification which includes the unit of competency HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation or HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Provision of a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation or HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation which has been undertaken as part of the VET accredited Bronze Medallion.
  • Provision of a certificate from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that identifies that the CPR studied meets the requirements of, or is conducted in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Guidelines (ARC).

AUSTSWIM Teachers™ should note that to renew your AUSTSWIM license evidence of a valid CPR qualification is required to be provided to AUSTSWIM.
