Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We recognise that people engage with aquatic environments with different backgrounds, abilities and needs, and that equitable access to swimming and water safety education is vital for reducing drowning risk and improving community safety.

Equity and inclusion are integral to safe practice. When learners feel supported, understood and respected, they are better able to engage, learn and build lifelong water safety skills.

Inclusive and equitable practice strengthens workforce participation, improves learning outcomes and supports AUSTSWIM’s commitment to drowning prevention and community safety.

AUSTSWIM offers professional development that supports teachers and aquatic organisations to build confidence and capability in inclusive practice.
