AUSTSWIM acknowledges the passing of Brad Maunsell

Statement from the AUSTSWIM Board, June 2026

AUSTSWIM is deeply saddened to acknowledge the passing of Brad Maunsell, our immediate former Chief Executive Officer.

Brad served AUSTSWIM for five years, including as CEO, and made a considerable contribution to the organisation, its people and the broader aquatic education sector.

During his time as CEO, Brad helped strengthen and steady AUSTSWIM through an important period of change.

He was committed to AUSTSWIM’s role in supporting quality swimming and water safety education, and to the vital contribution swim schools and swim teachers make to drowning prevention across Australia.

“Brad was one of the biggest supporters for AUSTSWIM I have known and worked tirelessly to contribute to the aquatics industry,” said AUSTSWIM director Melinda Crole.

“He was committed to ensuring the voice of swim schools, swim teachers and aquatics educators was part of the national conversation about water safety and drowning prevention.”

The AUSTSWIM Board acknowledges Brad’s service, leadership and commitment to the organisation.

Brad will be remembered with respect and gratitude by those who worked alongside him and by many across the sector.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Brad’s family, friends, colleagues and all those who knew and worked with him.

A service to celebrate Brad's life will be held on:
