Work that helps others enjoy the water

  • Swim teachers help people build swimming and water safety skills.

  • Aqua Exercise Instructors help people enjoy being active in the water.

Learning alongside a friend, or receiving encouragement from someone already doing the work, can make the first step easier. Each person still completes their own training and assessment.

FAQs

One eligible pair is drawn in each of four categories. Each person in the winning pair receives $250 cash, so the pair shares $500. There is $2,000 in total prize money. A prize is not guaranteed.

Refer a Friend is for an eligible existing AUSTSWIM swim teacher or Aqua instructor recommending the relevant course to a new candidate. Bring a Mate is for two prospective teachers or instructors enrolling in and completing the same workshop together.

No. Each new course candidate must also submit the campaign form before entries close. We then check the pair, enrolment and required workshop completion records. For Refer a Friend, only the new candidate enrols and submits the nomination; the referrer must agree to participate.

For this promotion, the required milestone is completion of the full two-day workshop. All other training, assessment, first aid and licensing requirements still apply before you can receive your qualification or licence. Workshop attendance does not, by itself, make you fully qualified.

Bring a Mate participants must complete the workshop at the same course. Taking different dates or locations will not qualify the pair. A Refer a Friend teacher or instructor does not attend with the new candidate.

An enrolment made before 12 October 2026 is not eligible. A new eligible enrolment, the required nomination and workshop completion must all occur between 12 October and 29 November 2026.

Yes, if they meet the course and competition requirements and have a parent or legal guardian’s consent. Candidates must be at least 16 before starting either course. There is no upper age limit.

An eligible teacher or instructor may make several genuine referrals. Each qualifying candidate enrolment creates one pair entry. Each enrolment can be used in only one category and one pair. Separate eligible TSW and Aqua enrolments may qualify for their relevant categories.

The Aqua referral category requires an AUSTSWIM-issued SISSS00135 Statement of Attainment. A former WETS qualification alone does not qualify. You are welcome to share course information, or ask us whether further training is suitable for you.

Contact AUSTSWIM for course or refund options. A replacement course must still meet the entry and workshop deadlines. Bring a Mate participants must still complete the same workshop. The competition does not provide an automatic entry or individual extension.

The four draws start at 2 pm AEDT on 3 December 2026 at AUSTSWIM Head Office in Clayton, Victoria. Winners will be notified in writing within seven days. Results will be published on this page on 10 December 2026.

No. Training can open up opportunities, but all assessment and licensing requirements still apply. Employment depends on vacancies, employer requirements and your circumstances.

Replacement winners must claim by 11:59 pm AEST on Thursday 24 June 2027.

3. Eligible courses and costs

Eligible courses are full AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety courses (TSW, SISSS00132 Swimming and Water Safety Teacher) and AUSTSWIM Aqua Exercise Instructor courses (Aqua, SISSS00135 Aqua Exercise Instruction), advertised on the AUSTSWIM website and delivered in Australia. The candidate must make a new enrolment during the entry period and complete the entire required workshop component during that period. The workshop completion deadline is 11:59 pm AEDT on Monday 14 December 2026 for all four categories.

An enrolment made before 19 October 2026 does not qualify. A licence renewal, professional development module or bridging-only course is not an eligible full course. Course availability, booking cut-offs and any required pre-work apply. A course booking or nomination alone is not a verified draw entry.

There is no additional fee to enter. Normal published course fees apply and are not increased for this promotion. Candidates must make their own course decision and meet all published course entry requirements. The promotion does not change training, assessment, certification, licensing or employment requirements. Completing the workshop for this promotion does not, by itself, complete all requirements to qualify or obtain a licence.

4. Who can participate

Each participant must be an individual ordinarily resident in Australia and satisfy their category requirements. Candidates must be at least 16 before commencing their course and meet its other published requirements. There is no upper age limit.

Refer a Friend is limited to existing AUSTSWIM licensed swim teachers or AUSTSWIM Aqua Exercise Instructors already recorded in AUSTSWIM’s database. AUSTSWIM must be able to match the referrer’s existing record to the candidate’s new enrolment and campaign nomination. The referrer does not need to make a new enrolment or purchase a course to make a referral.

A participant under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian’s consent to participate and accept a prize. AUSTSWIM may request evidence of that consent before confirming eligibility and may arrange payment through a guardian where legally required.

AUSTSWIM directors and employees, people engaged in conducting, administering or formally promoting the competition, people who determine winners, and their immediate families cannot enter. Immediate family means a spouse or partner, parent, child or sibling. This exclusion does not prevent an otherwise eligible teacher or instructor from making an ordinary personal referral under these terms.

Government-funded or subsidised enrolments, complimentary places and places provided in exchange for venue hire are excluded from this competition.

5. Refer a Friend to swim teaching

The referrer must be an existing swim teacher holding a current AUSTSWIM licence when the nomination is submitted. The referrer recommends TSW to a new candidate. The candidate must enrol in an eligible TSW course during the entry period, nominate that referrer through the campaign form before entries close, and complete the entire two-day TSW workshop component by 11:59 pm AEDT on Monday 14 December 2026.

Once AUSTSWIM verifies the nomination, both participants’ eligibility, the enrolment and workshop completion, the referrer and candidate form one eligible pair. The referrer does not enrol again or attend the candidate’s workshop.

6. Bring a Mate to swim teaching

Two prospective swim teachers must each make a new enrolment during the entry period in the same eligible TSW course. Each candidate must submit their own campaign form before entries close and nominate the other person as their mate.

Both must complete the entire two-day workshop component at that same course by 11:59 pm AEDT on Monday 14 December 2026. Different course dates, sessions or locations do not qualify as the same course. AUSTSWIM verifies both enrolments, both nominations and both workshop completions. The two matching nominations create one pair entry, not two.

7. Refer a Friend to Aqua

The referrer must be an existing Aqua Exercise Instructor who holds an AUSTSWIM-issued Statement of Attainment for SISSS00135 when the nomination is submitted. A former WETS qualification or a statement issued by another provider does not, by itself, meet this referrer requirement.

The referred candidate must make a new enrolment in an eligible Aqua course during the entry period, nominate the referrer through the campaign form before entries close, and complete the entire two-day Aqua workshop component by 11:59 pm AEDT on Monday 14 December 2026.

Once AUSTSWIM verifies both participants’ eligibility, the nomination, enrolment and workshop completion, the instructor and candidate form one eligible pair. The referrer does not enrol again or attend the candidate’s workshop.

8. Bring a Mate to Aqua

Two prospective Aqua Exercise Instructors must each make a new enrolment during the entry period in the same eligible Aqua course. Each candidate must submit their own campaign form before entries close and nominate the other person as their mate.

Both must complete the entire two-day workshop component at that same course by 29 November 2026. Different courses do not qualify. AUSTSWIM verifies both enrolments, both nominations and both workshop completions. The two matching nominations create one pair entry.

9. Registering and verifying a pair

Course enrolment and campaign nomination are separate steps. Each new candidate must submit the campaign nomination form on the campaign page by 11:59 pm AEDT on Monday 14 December 2026. The candidate provides their name, contact details, enrolment reference, course details, chosen category and the name and requested matching details of their referrer or mate. Candidates must use the same name and email as their course enrolment. Referrer details must match their existing AUSTSWIM database record.

Participants must agree to take part as a pair. Only provide another person’s details with their permission. AUSTSWIM may contact either person to verify their identity, eligibility, nomination and agreement to these terms. AUSTSWIM uses its database, enrolment, nomination and workshop records to determine eligibility. Pairs that cannot be matched in AUSTSWIM’s system are not eligible. Each pair must be verified by 12:00 noon AEDT on Friday 18 December 2026.

A submission acknowledgement confirms receipt only. Social media likes, comments, tags, shares or messages do not count as entries. Nominations cannot be added or changed after closing to improve the chance of winning. AUSTSWIM may correct a genuine clerical or technical error where evidence shows that a valid nomination was made on time and the correction does not disadvantage other entrants.

10. Entry limits and category overlap

Each unique qualifying pair receives one entry in its category. Each candidate enrolment may be linked to one referrer or one mate only and cannot be entered in both Refer a Friend and Bring a Mate for that course type. Duplicate or reciprocal submissions are combined into the original pair record.

An eligible existing teacher or instructor may refer several different candidates. Each separate genuine candidate enrolment that satisfies every requirement creates one pair entry. Separate eligible enrolments in TSW and Aqua may support entries in the relevant categories. A person may win in more than one category through separate valid entries.

Self-referral, fabricated identities and deliberate duplicate entries are not permitted. Entries cannot be sold, transferred or carried forward to another promotion.

11. Withdrawals, cancellations and transfers

A pair does not qualify if a required candidate withdraws, does not complete the required workshop, or receives a refund that cancels the qualifying enrolment before workshop completion. Ordinary course cancellation, transfer and refund terms and statutory consumer rights continue to apply.

A transferred enrolment can remain eligible only if the original enrolment was made during the entry period and the replacement course meets every eligibility condition and deadline. Bring a Mate candidates must still complete the workshop at the same course.

If AUSTSWIM cancels or postpones a course, it will explain the available course or refund options. A pair must still satisfy the published workshop deadline and same-course rule to qualify. There is no automatic draw entry or individual extension. Any promotion-wide change must comply with clause 17.

AUSTSWIM may invalidate an ineligible or fraudulent entry or a material breach of these terms. It will act reasonably, retain its reason and allow genuine record errors to be resolved before verification closes where practicable.

12. Draws and prizes

The administrator will conduct four separate computerised random draws from the verified pair records, at the time and place in clause 2. Each valid pair entry has an equal chance in its category. The selection method does not assess skill, popularity, social engagement or merit. Entrants need not attend. Public observation will be accommodated where practicable; otherwise an auditable record will be retained.

A person appearing in several valid referral pairs has several pair entries. This does not give those entries extra weight individually. AUSTSWIM retains the verified lists, selection records and results. If a drawn entry is found invalid, another eligible pair will be randomly selected in that category, subject to applicable law.

Each member of the winning pair receives a separate AUD $250 cash prize. AUSTSWIM will request bank details securely from verified winners only. If a category has no valid entries or no eligible replacement recipient remains, AUSTSWIM will deal with that prize under applicable law and any regulator direction; it will not silently move it into another category.

13. Notification, publication and payment

AUSTSWIM will notify winners by email or other written communication within seven days of the draw, using the details in its records. It may also telephone or send an SMS and will take reasonable steps to contact each winner.

Results will be published on the campaign page on Monday 21 December 2026 and remain available for at least 28 days. Publication will use each winner’s first initial, surname, state or territory and category, or a winning reference where permitted and needed for privacy or safety. Personal contact details, bank details, date of birth and guardian details will not be published.

Prizes will be transferred to the winners’ nominated Australian bank accounts within 28 days of the draw, subject to any lawful unclaimed-prize process. Winners may be asked for reasonable evidence of identity, eligibility or guardian consent. No additional purchase, referral or material expense is required to claim. A verified winner’s share is not withheld solely because the other person in the pair cannot be contacted.

14. Unclaimed prizes and replacement draws

Winners have until 11:59 pm AEDT on Monday 22 March 2027 to respond and supply reasonable verification and payment information. AUSTSWIM will make reasonable contact attempts and retain each unclaimed share until the deadline. A prize claimed in time will not be forfeited because of an administrative payment delay.

Subject to applicable law and any required approval or direction, unclaimed prizes will be redrawn from 2:00 pm AEDT on Wednesday 24 March 2027 at the venue and in the category order in clause 2. Where a law requires surrender of an unclaimed prize to a regulator rather than a redraw, AUSTSWIM will follow that requirement and publish the resulting arrangements on the campaign page.

If one $250 share is unclaimed, the verified winner keeps their own share. A replacement recipient for the unclaimed share will be selected at random from the eligible non-winning individuals in that category, with one chance per person in that replacement draw. If both shares are unclaimed, a replacement pair will be selected from the remaining eligible pair entries. The original unclaimed recipients are excluded from that replacement selection.

Replacement winners will be notified in writing within seven days. Results will be published on Thursday 25 March 2027 and remain available for at least 28 days. Verified replacement winners will be paid within 28 days of their draw. They have until 11:59 pm AEST on Thursday 24 June 2027 to claim; any further unclaimed amount will be dealt with as applicable law and regulatory directions require. Cash prizes will not be substituted without any necessary winner agreement and regulator approval.

15. Personal referrals and social media

A referral is a personal recommendation. Participants are not appointed as AUSTSWIM agents or authorised marketers. Referrers may share official information with people they know, but must not impersonate AUSTSWIM, buy contact lists, send unsolicited bulk messages, collect enrolment information on AUSTSWIM’s behalf or pay for a nomination.

Participants must not promise course acceptance, funding, successful assessment, certification, a licence, a particular job or income. Candidates complete their own enrolment. Any formal partner or creator arrangement is managed separately by AUSTSWIM.

This promotion is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Instagram, Facebook or TikTok. Entry information is provided to AUSTSWIM. To the extent permitted by law, participants release those platforms from claims arising from this promotion. This does not limit rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Privacy and records

AUSTSWIM uses the information supplied, and relevant existing course and licence records, to match pairs, verify eligibility and workshop completion, administer draws, contact winners, publish the stated results, deliver prizes, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations. Information may be handled by service providers, including the HubSpot form service, for those purposes under AUSTSWIM’s privacy arrangements.

Only provide information needed for the promotion. Do not send bank details or identity documents through the nomination form or social media. Bank details are requested securely from verified winners. Unrelated marketing consent is separate and optional. Photos, testimonials and further publicity require separate consent.

The Privacy Policy at https://austswim.com.au/privacy-policy explains how information is handled and how to seek access, correction or make a privacy complaint. Promotion records will be retained for at least three years after finalisation, or longer where legally required, then managed under AUSTSWIM’s retention and privacy obligations.

17. Changes, technical issues and consumer rights

AUSTSWIM will take reasonable steps to address a genuine technical failure fairly. It will not change the entry period, qualifying conditions or draw arrangements, or cancel or withdraw the promotion after commencement, except as permitted by law and with any required prior regulatory approval. Material changes will be communicated on the campaign page and through appropriate participant notices.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Australian Consumer Law. AUSTSWIM’s decisions remain subject to applicable law, review and complaint rights. Fine print does not override misleading headline claims.

18. Enquiries and disputes

Contact info@austswim.com.au or 1300 885 666 for questions, corrections or complaints. AUSTSWIM will respond reasonably and in good faith. Participants may contact a relevant regulator, consumer protection body or court. Victorian law governs these terms, subject to mandatory laws applying elsewhere in Australia.
