AUSTSWIM Aqua Exercise Instruction (Aqua) SISSS00127
 
The AUSTSWIM Aqua Exercise Instructor course meets the requirements of the nationally recognised training skillset, SISSS00127 Aqua Exercise Instruction.  The course will enable candidates to deliver aqua exercise sessions to a range of participants once all course requirements have been completed and submitted.  Aqua Exercise Instructors are in high demand, Australia wide and AUSTSWIM is proud to be able to offer this course. 
 
The course is recognised and registered with AUSactive and provides successful candidates with 20 CECs (5 per UOC).

Course Units of Competency 
This course contains units of competency that are nationally recognised from the Sport, Fitness and Recreation training package. 

 
Upon successful completion of all assessment requirements, candidates will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the following units:  
  1. SISFFIT038 Plan group water-based exercise sessions 
  2. SISFFIT039 Instruct group water-based exercise sessions 
  3. SISFFIT048 Use anatomy and physiology knowledge to support safe and effective water exercise NRT Vector Logo
  4. HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health and safety 
  5. SISCAQU020 Perform water rescues 
  6. HLTAID011 Provide first aid (not included with this course, Candidates must provide their SOA for this) 
Course Delivery
The Aqua Exercise Instructor course is delivered across five (5) sessions:
  1. Session 1 – Meet the Trainer online
  2. Session 2 – Meet the Trainer online
  3. Sessions 3 and 4 – face-to-face workshop at an aquatic venue
  4. Session 5 – Meet the Trainer online
Note:  Once enrolled, Candidates will receive calendar invites for each of the “Meet the Trainer” sessions.

 Candidates in Australia: 
  • Must be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or hold an appropriate visa allowing the candidate to undertake education. Please note: AUSTSWIM is not a CRICOS provider and cannot enrol students on an international student visa (Subclass 500).
  • Must provide their valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) number at the time of enrolment for verification by AUSTSWIM. A USI is a reference number required by the Commonwealth statutory office (Student Identifiers Act 2014) and is obtained from the USI Registrar.

  • Must hold a Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (TSW) licence or accreditation (Statement of Attainment is accepted) from AUSTSWIM or another provider.

Candidates in Australia and New Zealand: 
Must provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC). Although this is not expressly required before enrolling, it must be provided prior to commencing industry training.

All Candidates:  
  • May enrol in an AUSTSWIM course at 16 years of age and are eligible to receive the AUSTSWIM accreditation at 16 years of age.  
  • Are required to have a reasonable level of fitness and swimming ability to perform the required aquatic skills.
  • Are required to have access to a computer and the internet to access the online modules outside of face-to-face training.   

The Aqua Exercise Instructor course is delivered across five (5) sessions:

Session 1 – Meet the Trainer online
Session 2 – Meet the Trainer online
Sessions 3 and 4 – face-to-face workshop at an aquatic venue
Session 5 – Meet the Trainer online

The AUSTSWIM Aqua Exercise Instructor course is delivered in a blended format: 
  1. Two “Meet the Trainer” online sessions
  2. Pre-workshop session participation (3 sessions)
  3. eLearning and assessment tasks for each UOC
  4. Two day face-to-face workshop
  5. One post-workshop “Meet the Trainer” session
  6. Workplace training and assessment
  7. Completion of a Candidate Handbook 
Candidates have one year from the date of the first Meet the Trainer session to complete all course requirements.
